Gestational Diabetes

Symptoms and Signs of Gestational Diabetes

It is important to identify these symptoms to correctly manage the condition and avoid serious complications with the pregnancy. While screening for high blood sugar is usually completed early, these symptoms and signs of gestational diabetes mimic those of other types of diabetes:
  • High sugar levels in the blood/urine
  • Increase thirstiness
  • Increased urination
  • Weight loss
  • Blurry vision
  • Nausea, vomiting
  • Fatigue
  • Mood swings/irritability
These symptoms are often the same as symptoms of other conditions—including signs of pregnancy. Speak to your doctor to determine if you may be at risk for gestational diabetes.
