Many children with physical deformities in third world countries are abandoned or left behind in orphanages with little resources for rehabilitation. Some are immobile and lack access to the proper physical therapy treatment and specialty equipment needed to gain personal independence. Florida Hospital Sharing Smiles is dedicated to establishing a local network to care for these children and provide ongoing physical, occupational and speech therapy.
Sharing Smiles sends an expert teams of rehabilitation professionals to assess patients, prevent further degeneration of their condition and train the local caregivers in physical therapy, and training on new equipment. In partnership with compassionate local volunteers and caregivers ongoing therapies are provided to these disabled children so they can live happier, freer lives.
