The Transition to Parenthood is a class that equips expectant couples, and parents of infants and toddlers, with knowledge and confidence as they learn what to expect after having a baby. Through engaging presentations and exercises, couples that attend The Transition to Parenthood gain insight into:
- the top 10 reasons why transitioning into parenthood can be difficult
- five ways to build friendships
- explore the importance of dads involvement in baby’s care
- learn how the quality of their relationship impacts their baby’s care and development
The Transition to Parenthood is a fast-paced, fun, and informative class for couples that are interested in equipping themselves with relationship and parenting skills that will last a lifetime! Research tells us that all couples experience some stress and struggles with the addition of a child. It also tells us, however, that couples that attend classes like the Transition to Parenthood feel better prepared. As a result, those couples experience far less depression, report greater happiness/satisfaction in their relationship, and engage in more positive interactions with their baby, which leads to healthier infant/child development.
This class was developed by Drs. John & Julie Gottman and The Gottman Institute. The Transition to Parenthood is research and science based.
