The Adventist Health System acquired the Bunnell Community Hospital - which is now known as Florida Hospital Flagler - in 2000. The Bunnell facility maintained a daily census of approximately 20 patients, and in order to meet the healthcare needs of the Flagler County community, Florida Hospital Flagler was constructed. In the fall of 2002, Florida Hospital Flagler opened its new facility, equipped with care centers for heart, cancer and women's health, the latest in medical technology and specially trained physicians who are experts in a wide variety of health care needs.
Florida Hospital Flagler has 99-licensed beds with 16-additional observation beds and employs almost 1,000 caregivers, of which nearly 75 percent live in Flagler County. Florida Hospital Flagler continues to grow with the community and is now comprised of the hospital’s main campus, plus Town Center Surgery, the Parkway Medical Plaza, and Prompt Care, a Florida Hospital Flagler Walk-In Clinic.
Our belief is to not only grow with the community and provide the facilities and equipment to improve healthcare, but to also recruit the needed physician specialties. In the past two years, we have recruited and attained physicians in the field of: Neurology, Family Practice, General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Gastroenterology, Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia, Radiology and Vascular Surgery. This represents a significant number of specialties and we are proud to be associated with the recruited physicians.
As the backbone of healthcare in the community, our not-for-profit hospital adds services that are needed in the community both profitable and not-profitable. Because our philosophy is to serve the community, 100% of our income is invested into healthcare services in Flagler County. We realize the community has a choice when choosing where to receive their healthcare and we hope the community will continue to choose Florida Hospital Flagler both for inpatient and outpatient services.
