General Surgeon Returns to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial

ORANGE CITY, Fla., May 19, 2014 – Board-certified general surgeon Dr. James Michael Sutherland has returned to Florida Hospital Fish Memorial and joined Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners. 
 
Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners is Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler’s employed group of physicians that includes both primary care physicians and specialists. Florida Hospital HealthCare Partners consists of more than 125 physicians and enjoys a mutual partnership with Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler based upon the close alignment of the hospitals’ mission and values. 
 
"After three years of practicing medicine in Georgia, I'm so happy to return to Orange City," said Sutherland. "This community is home to me and I’m so glad for the opportunity to be back, caring for my friends and neighbors.”
 
From 2009 to 2011, Sutherland practiced at North Orlando Surgical Group in Orange City and was on staff at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial. For the last three years, Sutherland has practiced at Phoebe-Drominy Medical Center in Fitzgerald, Ga., where he served as chief of surgery, assistant chief of staff and medical director. 
 
Sutherland served in the United States Army Reserve in 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2010. During this time, he completed two tours as a trauma/critical care surgeon for wounded soldiers, one in Landstuhl, Germany during Operation Enduring Freedom and another in Ba’qu’ba, Al Najaf, Al Hillah during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. 
 
As of May 5, Sutherland will practice at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial’s Summit Building, located at 1061 Medical Center Drive, Suite 310 in Orange City. He is accepting new patients and most insurance plans and can be reached at (386) 917-7620.
