Florida Hospital HospiceCare Honors “All Star” Volunteers

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 1, 2014 – On March 25, Florida Hospital HospiceCare honored its 180 volunteers during its annual volunteer recognition luncheon at Vince Carter's restaurant in Daytona Beach.

During the “All Star Celebration” themed event, Raeanne Cade, Florida Hospital HospiceCare volunteer coordinator, expressed great appreciation for the volunteers’ vast contributions to the program’s success.  

“In 2013, our volunteers contributed an extraordinary 16,000 volunteer hours, at a value of $355,000,” Cade said. “While this cost savings is very important, our hospice volunteers’ most important contribution was in their connection to patients and their families, and the comfort and enhanced quality of life this connection created.”

Rema Cole, Florida Hospital HospiceCare administrative director, recognized the following volunteers for their continued service and contributions. 

One Year of Service pin recipients were: Kate Abels, Raymond Abels, Kate Baechtle, Adele Bass, Carol Beck, Ofelia Bergeron, Kay Bielick, Connie Blackwell, Gen Corder, Denise D’Angelo, Mary Golgowski, Mary Goodfriend, Jane Grimes, Lois Jaskulsky, Patricia Kosmoski, Susan Masselle, Yvonne McAdams, Christine Moore, Bob Morrison, Gerri Paparella, Pat Rekart, Donna Scrodin, Mary Anne Smith, Dan Swift, Eric Tangstrom, DeeDee Turlington, Janette Webb, and Linda Wolf.

Five Years of Service pin recipients were: Mardel Albers, Lorraine Baldassarre, Martha Breehl, Carol Cattell, Mary DeGovanni, Sue Doidge, Rosemary Duckett, Doris Edmonds, Robert Ferguson, Sherry Gilbert, Mary Homovitis, Barbara Johnson, Donald Jones, Liz Piettro, Flo Porrino, Nancy Saum, Nancy Toms, and Patricia Vath.

More than five years of service recognition to volunteers: Marge Canfield, Susan Cole, Marge Collins, Nina Ellison, Janice Faucher, Edgar “Gib” Gibbons, Diane Gordner, Carol Gould, Kyra Halchishak, Karyn Jacobs, Maureen Jarrell, Mildred Jones, Lyn Leitschuh, Kathy Lynch, Ann Matteson, Charlotte McBride, Mary Jo Meese, Diane Mettler, Linda O’Neill, Maritza Patterson, Nancy Rossi, Robbie Sebo, Nancy Suthard, Sandy Ward, Judith Wendler and Fran “Murph” Zadel.

More than 10 years of service recognition to volunteers Chris Bezeredi, Ron Bezeredi, Helen Fronko, Wanda Kalb, Mary Ellen Keck, Elizabeth Klein, Tim Klein, Teri Kowalski, Mary Mathwich, Harriet Norris, Bill Roy and Edie Roy. 

Special recognition was given to Community Supporters: Blooming Flowers & Gifts, Flowers Central, Pace School, Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Simply Roses Florist, Hospice Quilt project, Jan Pewarski & Prayer Quilts, Halifax Humane Society, Bear Creek Community, and Breakaway Trails Community.

Another special recognition was given to longtime volunteer Harriett Norris in honor of her upcoming 100th birthday.
