Symptoms and Signs of Fibrocystic Breast Disease

The symptoms and signs of fibrocystic breast disease can be different for each patient. The pain usually increases before the menstrual period and improves after the period begins. Symptoms also decrease or resolve during menopause.
These are some of the more common symptoms and signs of fibrocystic breast disease:
• Thickening of breast tissue
• Breast pain or tenderness in both breasts
• Fluctuating size of breast lumps
• Full, swollen or heavy breasts
• Pain under the arms
• Breast lumps that move when pushed
• Nipple discharge (seek immediate care if clear, red or bloody)
