Survivability of Fibroadenoma

The survivability of fibroadenoma is high for most patients because the lump is not cancerous. In fact, doctors may recommend not treating the condition in younger women since it is not life threatening. Follow up care may be recommended to monitor the fibroadenoma and ensure it is not causing problems.

The long-term prognosis for patients with benign breast lumps depends on whether or not the doctor recommends surgery. Surgery could cause recovery time and monitoring, but patients usually recover quickly.

While the condition is not cancerous, doctors have found that fibroadenoma may increase a patient’s risk of developing breast cancer. Follow up care and regular screenings can detect cancer in the early stages.
