Conditions Related to Fibroadenoma

Related conditions to fibroadenoma include several forms of benign breast lumps and cancerous lumps. While fibroadenoma is the most common benign breast lump, it may produce similar symptoms.

Related conditions such as cancerous breast lumps may cause similar symptoms. Also, fibroadenoma may increase a patient’s risk of developing breast cancer. Diagnosis is the only way to determine if the lump is benign or cancerous.

These are the other types of benign breast lumps:

  • Cyst – a fluid-filled sac that can become painful and problematic
  • Fat necrosis – painless, round and firm lump caused by damage to the breast tissue
  • Sclerosing adenosis – excessive breast tissue growth in the lobules
