Decades of research show that quitting tobacco use can be the single most important thing an individual can do for their health. Non-smokers live on average 10 years longer than smokers.
Quitting is not just good for your health, it’s also good for your wallet. The average pack-a-day smoker in Florida spends more than $2,000 a year on cigarettes.
Join Florida Hospital Flagler for a free six-week Quit Smoking Now Program on Thursdays from July 12 - August 16 at 5:30pm inside Classroom C. The class provides participants with relevant education, support, and resources in a group setting. Each participant is given a participant workbook, and a quit bag with items such as stress ball, water bottle, worry stone. A trained Tobacco Treatment Specialist facilitates the class to assist participants in their transition into a life without tobacco.
Topics that are addressed during the program include:
•Why do you use tobacco?
•The benefits of quitting
•Identifying triggers & how to handle them
•How to cope with withdrawal from nicotine
•Selecting a quit date
•Detailed description of available nicotine replacement therapies (NRTs)
•How to avoid “slips” and “relapses”
•Additional support resources
A Free four-week supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patch, lozenge or gum) is also provided to each registered participant.
