    FREE Joint Replacement Class

    Florida Hospital Flagler offers a free class for those considering a joint replacement in the future. All are welcome to this class, whether or not they have an orthopedic surgery scheduled.

    Participants will learn about:

    Total hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery, post-anesthesia care, their stay on the orthopedic unit, post-discharge expectations and exercises they’ll need to perform both before and after surgery.

    When facing the prospect of having joint replacement surgery, it helps to know you are in the hands of experts. Our goal is for you to achieve your best possible outcome, and our staff is committed to making sure you reach that goal.

    Sunday BirthShop 2018

    When the four-week series doesn’t work for your schedule, this is a one day quick course that teaches expectant moms about labor and delivery, medications, epidural, breathing and relaxation techniques, Cesarean section and induction.
     
    Please bring two pillows and a blanket to class. In order to provide an optimal experience and ensure that other class participants may focus on our instructor, please do not bring small children.

    Survivors Yoga Class

    Florida Hospital Flagler now offers FREE yoga classes for cancer survivors and caregivers. Join us for a gentle, restorative yoga with Christina Phipps Foundation — certified instructor, Michel Jain. Gentle Yoga is an integration of gentle movements, relaxing stretches and breath awareness.

    Chairs and props may be incorporated as needed to allow the body to achieve each posture comfortably.

    Yoga will take place the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 11 am –12 pm inside classroom C.

    This is a one-night interactive class in which our Certified Childbirth Educator will help prepare you for your journey as parents of a newborn. She has many years’ experience as a specialty RN in Labor and Delivery and Mother-Baby care. Topics include; Apgar scoring, skin to skin contact, hospital procedures and screening tests. SIDS, bathing, circumcision, diapering and swaddling will be covered as well. Questions will be answered, such as; What causes a “cone head”? and, how do I soothe my fussy baby?     Boot Camp for New Dads® is a unique father-to-father workshop that inspires and equips men to become confidently engaged with their infants, support their mates and personally navigate their transformation into dads.

    At Boot Camp, Veteran Dads (with the help of their 2- to 8-month old babies) show Rookies (dads-to-be) the ins and outs of fatherhood in a men-only environment where no question is stupid and no topic off-limits.

    Power Parenting 2018 - Breastfeeding, Newborn Care and Infant CPR

    This is a one-day class that focuses on breastfeeding, newborn care, and infant CPR to help parents and loved ones prepare for their baby-to-be!

    • Breastfeeding is one of the most precious gifts a mother and baby can give to each other. The American Academy of Pediatrics recognizes breastfeeding as the best method of feeding and nurturing infants. At our Breastfeeding Class, our International Board Certified Lactation Consultant will assist soon-to-be moms and provide helpful information to make your breastfeeding experience as smooth as possible.

    • Our Newborn Care Class is taught by our Certified Happiest Baby Instructor and aligns with the Happiest Baby Association. The class covers tools to calm a crying, fussy baby by turning on their calming reflex, tips for practicing safe sleep and reducing the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and much more on newborn care!

    • Infant CPR class teaches family and friends what they need to know in the event of a life-threatening emergency — for example, if your baby is choking or isn’t moving or breathing because of a fall or a near drowning.

    Please bring a newborn-sized baby doll or stuffed animal in order to practice techniques. In order to provide an optimal experience and ensure that other class participants may focus on our instructor, please do not bring small children.

    Understanding Birth eClass

    Our Understanding Birth eClass is a unique online learning experience that provides comprehensive information you can trust as you prepare for the upcoming birth of your baby.  This class can be done from your computer at home and it includes videos, animations, and interactive games as you prepare for your delivery.  You will have access to the class for 60 days after you register. A link to your class will be emailed to you within 72 hours of registration.

    Support for People with Oral, Head and Neck Cancer, Inc. (SPOHNC) is a national organization dedicated to offering a safe and comforting environment where patients and survivors can discuss coping strategies, experiences, and hope. The group provides opportunities for awareness, information and encouragement to newly diagnosed survivors, family and friends.

    Prepared Childbirth Classes 2018

    Prepared Childbirth Classes are offered as a four-week series, with each series beginning on the assigned dates. Classes include topics on labor and delivery, medications, breathing and relaxation techniques, induction and Cesarean section. Registration required.
     
    Please bring two pillows and a blanket to each class. In order to provide an optimal experience and ensure that other class participants may focus on our instructor, please do not bring small children.
     
    $50 per couple for the entire four-week series. Only one registration is needed per couple. Scholarships are available. For scholarship information, call (386) 231-3152.
