Most types of Cushing syndrome are related conditions to ectopic Cushing syndrome. These conditions produce most of the same symptoms, but are caused by different issues in the body. Also, because the causes differ, the treatment and prevention techniques are also different.
 

Cushing Syndrome

The general related condition to ectopic Cushing Syndrome, Cushing syndrome is a condition where the adrenal gland releases too much cortisol, a stress hormone. It causes these symptoms:

  • Irregular menstrual cycle in women

Cushing disease is a related condition to ectopic Cushing Syndrome. It is a type of Cushing syndrome where the pituitary gland produces too much ACTH.
 
Similarly, there are other forms Cushing syndrome that are caused from tumors that secret cortisol and another type caused by a tumor on the adrenal gland.
