Causes of Concussion

Concussions are caused by a jolt or blow to the head, which can come from sports activities, a fall or car accidents. Patients who experience jarring—or a big movement of the brain in the any direction—may lose consciousness, and how long they remain unconscious may hint at the severity of the concussion. In other cases, however, patients remain conscious, and some don’t even know they’ve had a concussion.
