Colon Cancer

Survivability of Colon Cancer

If it’s found early enough, patients have an excellent chance of surviving colon cancer. Patients whose colorectal cancer cases are diagnosed before the cancer has spread have a more than 90 percent chance of living at least five years. However, the prognosis worsens the more the cancer progresses. Once the cancer spreads to nearby lymph nodes or organs, the five-year survival rate drops to 64 percent; once the cancer spreads to other, more distant parts of the body such as the liver or lungs, the survival rate is just 7 percent.
