Extraordinary Care When It Matters Most
Our radiology department is made up of a team of physicians, PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certified radiologists, pediatric technologists, child-life specialists and pediatric nursing staff who are all committed to providing excellent care for our pediatric patients. Our four radiologists trained in and dedicated to the imaging of children with more than 55 years of combined experience in pediatric imaging - providing expertise in every area of pediatric imaging.
Each of our radiologists are specially trained and qualified in pediatric radiology so they can accurately analyze and interpret the images of our young patients. This training allows our radiologists to work closely with the referring doctors in the diagnosis and treatment of patients, including premature infants. Should an unexpected emergency arise during imaging, our staff is trained in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, allowing us to instantly and effectively intervene.
At Florida Hospital for Children, we understand that imaging can be a frightening prospect to a young child. That’s why we make sure that every technologist receives training in the specialized care of these children. Certified Child Life Specialists are also routinely utilized for longer or more intensive procedures.

Imaging Services Designed With Children In Mind
At Florida Hospital for Children we know that our young patients can feel anxious when they are in need of imaging. That’s why we’ve created a very patient-friendly waiting room that is filled with activities to keep your child busy while they wait for their appointment.
Not only are our radiologists trained specially to work with children, but we’ve installed the latest scanning and imaging technologies to get our young patients in and out as quickly as possible. These diagnostic tools are not only faster and more efficient, but they expose your child to less radiation. Because they are so efficient, there’s often no need for anesthesia and your child can remain awake and alert throughout the process.
Parents will also find relief in knowing that while our Pediatric Radiologists strive to provide the best imaging possible, they are also committed to using the lowest radiation doses possible. We have a dedicated team including technologists, physicians, and medical physicists who are educated in and committed to using the most advanced methods for lowering radiation-dose. Our imaging team is so committed to this effort that our radiation doses are even lower than the Image Gently Campaign national standards! Combined with our friendly, highly trained staff and welcoming environment, these advanced technologies help set Florida Hospital for Children apart from other medical centers in the region.
