A Very Special Place, Created Just for Children
One of the premier children’s hospitals in the nation, Florida Hospital for Children sets the standard for innovation, quality and comprehensive care. We have designed a hospital from the ground up that is a child-centric healing environment like no other.
Trekking through a jungle, patients and guests can create melodies on musical step pads while Baloo from The Jungle Book looks on approvingly. Or, they can follow salmon to see Rutt and Tuke of Brother Bear or dance with sea horses on their way to greet Sebastian and Flounder from The Little Mermaid. A hospital can be an overwhelming place, and we have worked very hard to make each experience special.
A Wonderland of Health and Healing
As you enter our lobby, you will instantly see that Florida Hospital for Children has a very unique approach to healthcare. You may be met by our Adventure Guide, who is here to help you find your way around and, if coaxed, sing you an impromptu song. Our entire seven-story wing is a wonderland of adventure, health and healing. Playrooms are filled with toys and games for patients of all ages, including the Dwight Howard Teen Center, a special area for teens and young adults. Each floor of the hospital takes design cues from the magical worlds of Disney: Simba’s savanna, Ariel’s ocean, Mowgli’s jungle and the bears' woods. Nature soundtracks of the jungle, ocean and desert stream through common areas as do subtle scents that capture the essence of these worlds. Children can even change the look, feel and ambiance of their room, thanks to state-of-the-art lighting technology developed by Philips Lighting.
A World-Class Care Team Backed by the Latest Technology and Treatments
Though we are big on fun and games, all in an effort to make your child feel safe and at ease, we have also assembled a world-class team of doctors, specialists, nurses and healthcare professionals who are second to none. At their disposal are some of the most advanced technologies, therapies and treatments available. We lead the way, not only in our approach to healthcare, but in research as well, finding new methods for treating children so we can improve outcomes.
We are proud to have the only bone marrow transplantation program in the region and our advanced neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) have international reputations of excellence. We have also developed our Healthy100 Kids Program, designed specifically to help children learn the good health and lifestyle strategies they need to keep them healthy through their 100th birthday.
While we love the children who trust us with their care, our greatest reward is seeing each one walk out the front door of our hospital for the last time, filled with all the wonder and magic good health offers.
At Florida Hospital for Children, we believe that dreams really do come true—the dream of health and wellness for every child.
