Treatments for cervical polyps depend on the polyps’ size. Your doctor can remove smaller polyps by simply twisting them off in an outpatient procedure. However, larger polyps may necessitate electrocautery, which uses heat to remove the polyps. After the polyps are removed, they are sent off to a lab for a biopsy to make sure they are benign.
There may be slight bleeding in the first few days after the removal of a polyp.
