The Florida Hospital Carrollwood Diabetes & Endocrinology Program offers comprehensive medical management of diabetes, thyroid disorders and other conditions of the endocrine organs, and organs that secrete hormones, including the pituitary, thyroid, adrenals, ovaries, testes and pancreas. Led by an on-site, board-certified endocrinologist, Alejandro Ramirez, MD, our bilingual staff provides the latest and most advanced treatments and education programs to members of our Tampa Bay community.
In addition, we are on the cutting edge of research into the links between diabetes and obesity, which affords our diabetes patients the benefit of the foremost medical knowledge in this field. And for patients in the hospital, we use the EndoTool, a sophisticated glucose management system that automatically calculates the correct dosage of intravenous insulin needed to quickly control blood glucose levels.
Beyond the trusted clinical care we provide to diabetics, we are also an educational resource, teaching people how to better manage their diabetes and mitigate its effects. In fact, the Florida Hospital Carrollwood Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute is the first comprehensive diabetes program in the Tampa Bay area to meet the American Diabetes Association’s National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. This program teaches patients to manage their diabetes through lifestyle changes as well as the use of medications and medical devices.
