Conditions Related to Carotid Angioplasty
One of the most common related conditions to carotid angioplasty is called atherosclerosis. It is plaque build up in the lining of the carotid artery. This plaque blocks the flow of blood, reducing blood flow to the brain. Sometimes, small particles from the plaque may break off and travel through the blood stream. It may block the flow of blood and cause a stroke.
This related condition to carotid angioplasty causes a condition called carotid artery disease or carotid artery stenosis.
