Side Effects of Breast Cancer Surgery

Common side effects associated with breast cancer surgery include pain following the procedure and changes in the shape of the breast. Mastectomy and breast-conserving surgery patients may also face side effects such as wound infection, and a buildup of blood and/or fluid in the wound. If the lymph nodes are removed, side effects such as swelling of the arm and chest are possible as well.
