Ease Pelvic Health Pain with Physical Therapy

POSTED BY: Christine Jallad

Are you experiencing pain in your pelvic region that you cannot find the explanation for?

There are many pelvic diagnoses that go undetected, untreated or are not properly diagnosed because men and women feel like there is no answer to their pain. Sometimes, many do not seek medical attention because the pain seems like an embarrassing problem.

There is good news- You are NOT alone and a very suitable therapy option after your physician has ruled out other conditions is often pelvic heath therapy. Pelvic health therapy is a non-surgical treatment option geared toward alleviating and treating pain and discomfort through a series of therapies. Therapies can include biofeedback, electrical stimulation, ultrasound and manual therapies, which can help treat pelvic pain and conditions such as urinary and bowel disorders, pregnancy and postpartum conditions, and abdominal disorders.

How do I know if I am a candidate for pelvic physical therapy?
You (or someone you know) are a candidate for Pelvic Physical Therapy if you answer yes to any of the following questions:
(M for male, F for female, P for pediatric)
  • F: Do you have a painful episiotomy or c-section scar?
  • F: Do you experience painful intercourse?
  • M/F: Do you have urinary leakage with coughing, sneezing, laughing, or jumping? Males, do you have urinary leakage since your prostate surgery?
  • M/F: Do you urinate more frequently than every 2 hours?
  • M/F: Do you have abdominal pain even months or years after abdominal surgery?
  • M/F: Do you have severe nerve-like pain with sitting?
  • M: Do you experience painful ejaculation?
  • P: Does your child have bedwetting issues, chronic constipation, or urinary frequency?

If you answered yes, seek help from an expert. For more information or to speak to a pelvic health therapist, call (407) 303-8020 or visit
