Screening and Tests for Benign Pelvic Masses

Screening for benign pelvic masses varies depending on the type and location of the mass, though in most cases a pelvic exam will be used. Other tests for benign pelvic masses may include:

  • Ultrasound
  • Other imaging tests, such as an MRI ort CT scan
  • Blood tests to check for hormone levels, as well as for protein levels to see if the mass is cancerous
  • Laparoscopy (a surgical procedure used to diagnose and treat ovarian cysts)
