Bartholin's Cyst

Why Choose Florida Hospital?

A Bartholin’s cyst, or a buildup of pus on either side of the vaginal opening, can cause extreme pain and discomfort during everyday activities. With a pelvic exam, GYN experts at Florida Hospital can assess Bartholin’s cyst and recommend a biopsy to rule out more serious conditions. The good news is this condition is very treatable, and depending on its severity can be addressed through minor surgery and even soaking in warm water at home. If you are experiencing symptoms of a Bartholin’s cyst, schedule an appointment at Florida Hospital today.

A Bartholin’s cyst is a buildup of pus that forms a lump on one of the Bartholin’s glands, which are located on each side of the vaginal opening. The vaginal cyst created by the obstructed Bartholin gland may become infected, and can appear very quickly and become hot and swollen. Activity that puts pressure on the vulva, as well as sitting and walking, can then cause severe pain.
