Statistics of Atrial Fibrillation

In the United States, it is estimated that more than 2.5 million people have atrial fibrillation and that figure is expected to rise to some 12 million by 2050. More common among older adults, the median age for people with this form of arrhythmia is 74.6 years for women and 66.8 years for men. Caucasians are much more prone to developing atrial fibrillation than African Americans.
