Florida Hospital Cancer Institute Practices Recognized for Excellent Care
Quality Oncology Practice Initiative certifies cancer practices provide the best care
ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 2, 2012 — The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI), Cancer Institute of Florida and Premier Hematology and Oncology, recently received the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI) certification awarded for exceptional outpatient care. FHCI and these two practices are the only cancer treatment providers in Central Florida to receive the three-year certification.
“As more patients become invested in and knowledgeable about their care and the options available, certifications like QOPI are important indicators that help guide them in finding the best care,” said Dr. David Decker, medical director of FHCI. “We are very proud of every physician and clinician at FHCI who has made quality a priority and a reality here.”
The primary goal of the QOPI Certification process is to encourage practice improvement. The QOPI Certification seal indicates that a practice benchmarks against national standards that are reliable and credible and also acts to incorporate standards and processes to safeguard both the practice and patients.
A certified practice strives to better streamline policies and procedures and improve interdepartmental communications, especially in regards to record keeping and billing.
Cancer Institute of Florida is one of the largest hematology and oncology practices in Central Florida.
Premier Hematology & Oncology is a multidisciplinary team of specialists dedicated to serving patients in Osceola County.
FHCI treats more newly diagnosed cancer patients than any other health care system in the state and the southeast United States
