Adrenal Tumors

Stages of Adrenal Tumors

While most adrenal tumors are benign and quite small, cancerous tumors can grow large and spread into a life threatening disease. The stages of adrenal cancer indicate how much the cancerous tumor has grown and spread throughout the body.

As with any cancer, early detection is key, but most patients do not feel symptoms of adrenal tumors. Diagnosing the cancerous adrenal cancer in the early stages can make treatment more successful.

Adrenal Cancer Stages

  • Stage 1: The adrenal tumor is under 2 inches in size and has not spread.
  • Stage 2: The adrenal tumor is larger than 2 inches in size but has not spread.
  • Stage 3: Regardless of size, the adrenal tumor has grown to nearby tissues or lymph nodes.
  • Stage 4: Regardless of size, the adrenal cancer has spread to distance organs and tissue in the body.

Treatment for adrenal tumors varies depending on the stages of adrenal cancer diagnosed. If you suspect you may have an adrenal tumor, seek medical attention right away to determine if your symptoms indicate you may have cancer.
