Treatments for Adenomyosis

While most women have some adenomyosis as they near menopause, few are aware of it because they have no symptoms. As such, and because the symptoms that do exist usually go away with menopause, treatments for this condition are unnecessary.

However, some cases may require treatment options such as pain medication, and birth control pills and an intrauterine device containing progesterone may be needed to decrease heavy menstrual bleeding. In the most severe case, a hysterectomy may be necessary.
