Treating Acute Adrenal Crisis

Once a patient arrives at Florida Hospital, treatment for acute adrenal crisis begins as quickly as possible. Once the patient is diagnosed with acute adrenal crisis, doctors will administer an injection of hydrocortisone intravenously or intramuscularly.

For patients with low blood pressure, intravenous fluids may be given. If an infection caused the crisis, antibiotic therapy may be recommended.

After treatment for acute adrenal crisis, patients must remain in the hospital for a short time for monitoring.
