Acetabular Hip Fracture

Survivability of Acetabular Hip Fracture

In most cases, the survivability of an acetabular hip fracture is not the issue—on its own, this is not a life-threatening injury. However, because these injuries are associated with high-energy trauma, acetabular fracture patients may have other serious injuries as well.

That said, thanks to advances in modern medicine, the prognosis for acetabular hip fractures is generally pretty good: 80 to 85 percent of patients can expect a good to excellent recovery after surgery if the hip can be properly aligned and fixed.
