    Florida Hospital Carrollwood - My FH 5k Training Program

    Have you been thinking about running your first 5K or want to make a change in your life, but don’t know where to start? Get expert guidance from the staff at PT Solutions/Florida Hospital Carrollwood during this 8-week program. At the completion of the training period, participants are encouraged to join us for the Miles for Minds 5K run event at Carrollwood Village on August 15, 2015.  Run with our doctor - Yvonne Santiago, MD an internal medicine specialist with Florida Hospital Physician Group and an avid runner in our "Run with the Doctor" Wednesday night sessions.

    The Florida Hospital Tampa Mom & Baby Support Group gives new moms the opportunity to meet other new moms and discuss issues pertaining to motherhood. The group also allows babies to interact with one another. A discussion topic will be presented at each support group meeting. Topic examples include "Infant Sign Language," "Tips for Traveling with a Baby," and "How to Make Baby Food." The group also includes activities for the baby, such as "Infant Sign Language," and "Sing-A-Long with Baby." The group will occasionally host a guest speaker.

    Concussion: How, When, Why and What to do!

    Don’t try to “tough it out.” When your child participates in sports activities, bumps and bruises are inevitable. But when those blows affect a child’s head, it is important to watch for possible concussions. Concussions can also potentially affect a student-athletes learning abilities. Knowing the appropriate management of the return-to-school process is critical to helping students recover from a concussion. Join Barbara Morris, DHSc, Director of Sports Medicine and Performance, to learn more about how to prevent, recognize and respond to a concussion.

    After the presentation, there will be opportunity for Q&A and informal discussion with Jonathan Phillips, MD and Michelle Pescasio, MD.
