"We have four surgeries already scheduled for Monday," hospital spokeswoman Tracy Clouser said. "We're going to be notifying emergency services so they know our emergency room is open and they can bring people here."

Emergency physicians treated a variety of ailments, ranging from cardiac to orthopedic cases. Patients and their families were "in awe" of the facility, particularly the 900-gallon aquarium, Ingram said. "People were marveling at it."

The $150 million medical center on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, just north of the Shops at Wiregrass on State Road 56, is an 83-bed facility designed to eventually expand to up to 238 beds.

After 22 months of construction, the 200,000 square foot, all-private room hospital will feature the latest state-of-the-art surgical and radiological equipment and is designed to grow with the community.

"Every detail we put into this facility really has the patient and their healing in mind," CEO Brian Adams said.
