Florida Hospital
College of Health Sciences, located near downtown Orlando, Florida, is a Christian college affiliated
with Florida Hospital, a 1,478-bed medical center operated by the
Seventh-day Adventist Church. Through this affiliation, students
receive hands-on education, using the latest technology and techniques.
The College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools, 1866 Southern Lane, Decatur, Georgia 30033-4097, phone: 404-679-4558, and it is also licensed by the Florida State Board
of Independent Colleges and Universities. Hospitals used by the
College for clinical experience are accredited by the Joint Commission
of Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The College
works closely with its parent institution, Florida Hospital, to
give students the clinical experience that only a major medical
center can provide. Florida Hospital is the largest of more than
350 health care facilities operated by the Seventh-day Adventist
Church worldwide, and is internationally recognized for its programs
in heart and orthopedic surgery, organ transplantation, and limb
replantation.
The College
brings together rich educational programswhich have existed at Florida Hospital for some time. In fact, the
first nursing class graduated in 1913. The College offers excellent professional
preparation; an academic environment where one can grow intellectually,
spiritually, socially, and physically; and clinical education that
provides the experience necessary for successful career.
Bachelor of Science degrees are offered in Health Sciences, Nursing, and Radiologic Sciences. Associate of Science degrees are offered in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medical Technology, Nursing, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Pre-Professional Studies and Radiography. In addition, the College offers courses for those seeking prerequisite and general education courses in preparation for degrees not offered at Florida Hospital College
