MedMined Infection Surveillance System
MedMined
Services uses computerized artificial intelligence to filter
out patterns of hospital-borne infections and antibiotic resistance
from a hospital's lab results and patient data. This service
supports infection control staff and assists in the detection
and tracking of hospitalized patients with significant contagious
infections. Three basic activities by the infection control
team form the first line of defense in controlling hospital
infections: continuous surveillance, investigation of unusual
patterns identified by MedMined, and aggressive prevention
programs to improve practices and reduce risk to our patients.
Joint
Commission Accreditation for Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO)
requires proactive reporting and prevention of medical complications.
Hospital-required infections have a direct impact on the quality
of care a hospital provides and, by extension, on the hospital's
accreditation. Each hospital-acquired infection is an unexpected
outcome. MedMined provides the Infection Control staff with
current, actionable information that improves patient safety.
