The management of wounds is a major challenge, not only for the patient but caregivers as well. Benefitting from state-of-the-art technologies and specialized teams of wound care experts, patients at Florida Hospital not only receive superior treatment of their wounds, but the underlying issues that are causing them.

The clinic treats a variety of acute and chronic problems, from ulcers on the feet and legs caused by vascular insufficiencies and diabetes to complex wounds such as necrotizing faciitis and soft tissue radionecrosis.

To facilitate the healing of wounds, Florida Hospital’s Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Management Center operates the largest privately owned multi-place hyperbaric chamber in Florida. Here, wounds can be treated in an ideal 100% oxygen environment that increases the amount of oxygen circulating through your body’s tissues and bloodstream. Oxygen rich blood has proven effective in preserving damaged tissue, controlling infections and promoting healing. As you receive treatment you can relax in complete comfort, watching television or listening to music while a highly trained team of specialists, nurses and technicians monitors your session in the chamber.

Depending upon the nature of the wound, your treatment plan may include ongoing assessment, patient education, localized techniques including debridement and whirlpool therapy and hyperbaric oxygen. Your team will meet on a regular basis to review your wound management plan and discuss options with you regarding your course of treatment.
