January 30, 2003 - Orlando, FL - On Monday, February 17, Discovery Health Channel will broadcast live the labor, delivery and birth of babies from three medical centers across the country, including The Baby Place at Florida Hospital Orlando, which will be the "headquarters" for the live event.

The 10-hour BIRTH DAY LIVE! television marathon, will chronicle deliveries of all kinds, from Caesarian sections and natural childbirth to premature and high risk. Discovery Health Channel will be bringing in more than 40 crew members from all over the country, three production semi-trucks, one satellite truck, power generators, and much more. Developed in partnership with the March of Dimes, the Discovery Health Channel event will follow patients, doctors, and nurses at Florida Hospital in Orlando, Hutzel Women’s Hospital in Detroit, and Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix.

Award-winning journalist and author Mary Alice Williams will anchor the event from Florida Hospital Orlando, interviewing related medical experts while regularly turning over coverage to correspondents stationed at each hospital. Discovery Health medical director Dr. Andrea Pennington will also report live from Florida Hospital with updates and interviews with the families, doctors and nurses involved in the deliveries being filmed that day.

Discovery Health Channel is a 24-hour health channel from the people who also bring you the Discovery Channel (www.discoveryhealth.com). Local viewers can watch the BIRTHDAY LIVE! event on Time Warner Cable channel 163.
