    Governor Scott Announces 2012 Sterling Award Winner

    TALLAHASSEE – Governor Rick Scott and the Florida Sterling Council today announced Florida Memorial Medical Center in Daytona as the 2012 recipient of the prestigious Governor's Sterling Award and the Sustained Excellence Award. “This award is the highest recognition an organization in Florida can receive for outstanding performance and productivity, and I am honored to recognize this year’s recipients,” said Governor Scott. “I am proud of the work the Sterling Council does helping organizations increase productivity and efficiency so that they can save money and hire more Floridians.”

    New pediatric rehabilitation center

    From indoor rock climbing walls to a “race track,” tricycles to exer-gaming cardio bikes, the new Savannah-themed Darrell Armstrong Center at Florida Hospital for Children Pediatric Rehabilitation is a place to rebuild body, mind and spirit for patients in Central Florida. The 4,000 square-foot center is one of the most comprehensive facilities for patients seeking physical, occupational speech and/or audiology therapy and social group therapy. The new center is generously supported by the Darrell Armstrong Foundation.

    92 is Not Too Old for Groundbreaking Heart Procedure

    A calcified heart valve blocked Hoffman’s dream of an active lifestyle.  At 92 years of age, he was not a candidate for a traditional heart valve replacement surgery.  But Hoffman’s longing for longevity is part of the reason why the multi-disciplinary team from Florida Hospital believed Hoffman would be a good candidate for the groundbreaking procedure.
