Respiratory Care

Florida Hospital East Orlando’s Respiratory Care services focus on the assessment and treatment of patients with cardiopulmonary compromise. Our respiratory therapists treat asthma, emphysema and other lung disorders with progressive therapies and drugs. They also educate, teaching patients about their care in the hospital and how to take measures to help prevent further or recurring illness. Critical Care

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
We care for a variety of patients with diagnoses from cardiac problems and respiratory illnesses to hematological, urological, gastrointestinal, general surgery, and endocrine diseases.

Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Patients will be placed in the PCU when they are admitted directly from the Emergency Department or when they are transferred from the ICU. These patients require close observation and monitoring. The patients we care for have a variety of medical conditions ranging from cardiac problems to neurological, respiratory and endocrine diseases. Every patient in the unit is on a cardiac monitor.

Emergency Department

A physician referral is required for patients to receive treatment at the Pain Medicine Center.

Radiology & Diagnostic Imaging Services

The hospital’s expanded Imaging Department includes a new state-of-the-art, in-house MRI that provides highly-detailed pictures of anatomy and pathology to help physicians evaluate a wide range of conditions, including stroke and heart disease. Additionally, a new ultrasound machine, two new x-ray machines, and a new nuclear medicine camera are all a part of the new technology enhancements within the Imaging Department.

The Imaging Department also offers a dedicated team of schedulers, easy in and out appointments and extended weekend and evening hours for your convenience.

Sleep Disorders Center

Moving to additional space in the Cardiology Department, are two new sleep labs. Doubling the current sleep center from two to four beds, the center will operate day and night with EEG tests during the day and polysomnography tests (used to diagnose and treat sleep disorders) in the evenings.

Sleep disorders diagnosed and treated as the Sleep Disorders Center include:

• Insomnia
• Restless Leg Syndrome
• Sleep Apnea
