Cardiology
FH has earned a national reputation as a leader in advanced cardiac care since its inception in 1967. In fact, MSNBC dubbed FH America’s Heart Hospital SM for its continued leadership role in the treatment and prevention of heart disease. With more than 1,000 specially trained cardiac nurses and technicians FH treats more heart patients than any other hospital in the United States. This includes:
- More than 70,000 cardiac-related visits per year with over 25,000 of those being treated for chest pain across seven emergency rooms.
- More than 14,000 heart procedures and about 2,600 open-heart surgeries are performed at FH every year.
- Ranked 3rd in the nation and 1st in the state of Florida for the number of open-heart surgeries performed.*
- Multi-phase cardiac rehabilitation program with the area’s only American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACPR) certified Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation Program – specialized to help meet the needs of patients during and after hospitalization.
As a result, FH is ranked as one of the top hospitals in the nation for patient enrollment in cardiac research studies. Thanks to our evidence-based treatment programs, FH became the 10th hospital nationally – and the first in Florida – to be designated an Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
