Focus
on Whole-Person Health Drives Florida Hospital Orlando Design Florida
Hospital Orlando (Florida Hospital Orlando) is embarking on a major transformation
that will lead the campus into the next century of delivering health care. In
the initial plans, Florida Hospital Orlando is planning to build a new patient
tower that will house the cardiac program, new inpatient beds, and a new ED.
Florida
Hospital Orlando will also break ground on a parking garage expansion this year.
Beyond changing the physical structure, Florida Hospital Orlando is changing the
way health care is delivered. By utilizing evidence-based research, Florida Hospital
Orlando will capitalize on the healing environment provided by beautiful Lake
Estelle incorporating natural light and soothing colors. According
to Dr. Ulrich, environmental sociologist, this location gives Florida Hospital
Orlando the distinction of being the only hospital in the country to have an ED
on a lake.
"During
the planning process, we are looking to our employees for their input in developing
the future of health care," said Randy Haffner, Florida Hospital Orlando
administrator. Employees
are encouraged to join tours of the "Imagination Station" to give their
suggestions about room layout and other ideas related to this project. Tour dates
and times will be announced in the near future.
Tim Burrill,
assistant vice president, will be overseeing the expansion
projects for the system with primary responsibility for Florida
Hospital Orlando. Burrill has been with Florida Hospital for
13 years, previously as assistant administrator for Winter
Park Memorial Hospital.
