As
Florida Hospital's Centennial year draws closer, it's a time to reflect on the
past, look at our remarkable accomplishments, and most importantly set a vision
for the future. For almost 100 years, Florida Hospital has provided exceptional
care to our patients, and today we are a nationally recognized health care leader. As
the Central Florida community has grown so has Florida Hospital. It is our mission
and responsibility to plan for this growth and the increasing demands on health
care. This leads us to one of the biggest announcements since our doors first
opened in 1908. Today,
Florida Hospital will share the first steps of our vision that will lead us into
the next century of care. This includes major expansion and renovation plans that
will impact each of our seven campuses. Special employee celebrations are being
held at each campus this week to announce specific plans and timelines for each
project. "These
plans are still in the early stages, and I personally want to encourage our employees
to imagine the possibilities, get involved and give your input," said Florida
Hospital president, Don Jernigan. "Your counsel will be one of the most important
elements of each expansion project. Our employees and physicians have put Florida
Hospital on the forefront of care and we look to you again for your leadership
and dedication as we take Florida Hospital to the next level." In addition
to today's events, there will be numerous opportunities during the planning phases
for employees and the community to give their feedback and get involved. Eight
design drivers have been developed to steer this project. Every structure must
meet each of these standards. One of these design drivers is focused on reducing
employee walking time and improving efficiency. Other drivers emphasize an architectural
design that reduces stress, replenishes spirit and is visually appealing. This
particular commitment influenced the decision to build on the lake rather than
on the train tracks.
