Florida
Hospital Altamonte
Breaks Ground on Major Expansion
Seminole County is booming with growth. As more people move
to the County, the need for healthcare services continues
to rise. In an effort to accommodate health care demands,
Florida Hospital Altamonte recently broke ground on a major
expansion project that will add a six-story, 83-bed patient
tower and a 30,000-square-foot, 37-bed emergency department,
nearly tripling the size of the current ER. This $70 million
community investment is scheduled for completion by the summer
of 2007, with the new Emergency Department opening as early
as next Summer.
"These
expansion projects are a critical part of our master plan
to meet the future healthcare needs of the community,"
said Terry Owen, chief operating officer of Florida Hospital
Altamonte. "A growing community, coupled with an aging
population, will increase the utilization of healthcare in
Seminole County and we are planning now to enhance our services
and expand our facility to be prepared to meet these needs."
Florida
Hospital Altamonte currently cares for more than 42,000 emergency
department visits, over 106,000 outpatient visits, and almost
17,000 inpatient visits each year.
