Baby Building 101

This one day course offers expectant parents everything they need to know about baby care from birth to 6 months. Topics include: general baby care, adjusting to parenthood, developemental stages, handling sickness, feeding and nutrition, sleep patterns, immunizations, safety and child-proofing your home. 1 support person may attend but does not need to enroll. Event fee is $40.00.

Project Hope Fashion Show

This year’s Project Hope event will feature fashions for men, women and children provided exclusively by Dillard’s. Tickets are $50, with proceeds supporting FHMMC’s Comprehensive Cancer Center and the future Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

This class covers: anatomy and physiology of the breast, benefits of breastfeeding, how the breast makes milk, solving and avoiding problems, basics of breastfeeding and special circumstances. 1 support person may attend but does not need to enroll. Event fee is $15.

LAP-BAND Information Session

Speak with Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center weight loss professionals and others considering the LAP-BAND® procedure for a free, 90-minute information session at 6 p.m.

Quit Smoking Now!

Join Florida Hospital Oceanside for a free, 6-week program designed to meet the needs of smokers who want to quit. Participants are encouraged to get support by attending as many programs as they want, and can attend over and over until they are confident about being smoke-free. Participants are provided a book and other helpful tools along the way to make the process easier. The program, which was designed by an ex-smoker and is led by a trained facilitator, will guide participants through the many issues related to quitting smoking, including coping with anger, sleep problems and cravings, managing stress, how physical activity and healthy food choices make quitting smoking easier, how to prevent relapse and what to do when friends and family smoke around you. Tour of the Women's Center

Tours of the Women's Center are given at no charge and offer an up-close look at the features and advantages of having your baby at Florida Hospital Tampa. Registration is required. The tour takes approximately 30 minutes.

Asthma Seminar & Screening

Join us for a free seminar on asthma awareness, including causes, effects, screening/diagnosis and treatment. Free asthma screenings will be provided, which include Spirometry and FeNO (fractional exhaled nitric oxide) testing.

Older Siblings Class

This class is designed for older children ages 6-10 years that will soon become big brothers or big sisters. A parent must attend with the child(ren).Topics include: fetal growth and development, an optional childbirth video, what to expect from a new baby, holding a new baby, safe play ideas, feelings and emotions, and a tour of the facility. Event fee is $10.

Childbirth Preparation

This 5 week series of classes is designed to prepare you and your partner for all phases of birth. Recommended that this course be completed at least 4-6 weeks before the due date. This class covers: what to expect in the hospital, how to tell if you are in labor, relaxation and breathing exercises, labor support techniques, medications and interventions, cesarean childbirth, postpartum information, tour of the facility and infant/child CPR. 1 support person may attend-does not need to enroll. Event fee is $75.

Prepared Childbirth Classes are offered as a six week series. Breastfeeding is included in the six-week series but may also be taken as a separate course for no fee. Breastfeeding sessions provide information for the first weeks of your baby’s life to help you get off to a great start with your new bundle of joy!
