A Local Leader with National Recognition
In 2011 and again in 2012, U.S. News & World Report ranked Florida Hospital as the #1 hospital in the Orlando metro area and one of the best hospitals in the nation overall. We are also honored to receive national recognition in seven clinical specialties. Nationally, Florida Hospital's programs rank as follows:

This year's Best Hospitals showcases more than 700 of the nation's roughly 5,000 hospitals. Fewer than 150 hospitals ranked nationally in at least one of 16 medical specialties. Magnet Recognition
The Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children is the first—and currently the only—hospital in Central Florida to receive Magnet Recognition by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet Recognition is awarded to health care providers exhibiting excellence in nursing care by meeting rigorous criteria for professionalism, teamwork, and practicing the highest standards in patient care. America’s #1 Hospital for Admissions
Treating more than 1 million patients each year, The American Hospital Association ranked Florida Hospital first in the country for number of inpatient admissions.
Sterling Award
Florida Hospital was the first hospital in Central Florida to receive the Governor’s Sterling award. (2010)
America’s Largest Non-Catholic Religious Healthcare System
Modern Healthcare named Adventist Health System, the parent company of Florida Hospital, as the largest non-Catholic religious health care system in the nation (2009).
Medicare Leader
Florida Hospital is the largest provider of Medicare services in the nation (MedPAR Data).
Top Cardiac Center
Florida Hospital ranked first in Florida and first in the nation for the number of cardiology patients treated annually. (MedPAR 2009)
Leader in Cardiac Research
Florida Hospital is one of the top hospitals in the nation for patient enrollment in cardiac research studies.
Leading Cancer Program
The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is the largest, most comprehensive cancer program in Florida and treats more cancer patients than any other program in Florida. (AHCA 2009)
Leader in Cancer Clinical Trials
The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is one of few community oncology practices in the country to receive honors from the American Society of Clinical Oncology for its efforts to improve cancer research through participation in clinical trials.
Top Orthopaedic Center
Florida Hospital is ranked second in the country for the number of Medicare orthopedic patients we treat annually and performs more orthopedic surgeries than any other hospital in the State of Florida. (MedPAR 2009)
Consumer Choice Award Winner
Florida Hospital has received the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation every year from 1996 to the present.
Community Leader
Florida Hospital received a NOVA Award from the American Hospital Association for its collaboration with Orlando Health, Health Central, community organizations, and Orange County administrators to improve community access to quality health care with the creation of the Primary Care Access Network (PCAN) Clinics. Teaching Hospital Designation
The Administrative Board of the Council of Teaching Hospitals and Health Systems (COTH) unanimously endorsed Florida Hospital for full COTH membership, distinguishing it as one of the nation’s teaching hospitals. (2006)
Statutory Teaching Hospital
Florida Hospital has earned designation as a Statutory Teaching Hospital by the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA). (2010)
Leading Family Practice Residency Program
Florida Hospital has the largest family practice residency program in Florida and one of the largest programs in the nation.
Top Employer for Families
The Orlando Sentinel has consistently ranked Florida Hospital in its “Top 100 Companies for Working Families.”
One of Central Florida’s Largest Employers
Florida Hospital is one of the largest employers in Central Florida, according to the Orlando Business Journal.

Beacon Awards for Diversity
Florida Hospital received two Beacon Awards for Celebrating Diversity in Greater Orlando’s Workforce and was awarded top honors for Corporate Advocate.
Beacon Nursing Award
Florida Hospital Celebration Health’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was the first in Central Florida to receive the National Beacon Award by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). The Beacon Award recognizes adult critical care, adult progressive care and pediatric critical care units that exemplify nursing innovation, high quality patient outcomes, healthy work environments, commitment to excellence, leadership and organizational ethics. Leading Neuroscience Institute
The Florida Hospital Neuroscience Institute serves more Medicare neurology inpatients than any other facility in the nation. In addition, the Institute treats more stroke and transient ischemic attack patients than any other facility in Florida. (MedPAR 2009)
Transplant Leader
The Florida Hospital Transplant Center performs more transplants than the majority of facilities the nation, with 184 kidney transplants and 82 liver transplants performed in 2010 alone.
Education Leader
With nearly 3,000 students enrolled, Adventist University of Health Sciences offers a range of highly sought and much-needed medical degree programs, including:
- Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia
- Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing, Health Sciences, Radiological Sciences and Diagnostic Medical Sonography
