About Orlando

Orlando is the sixth largest city in the state of Florida with a population of 220,000. Founded in 1840, the city is best known as a tourist destination with such notable attractions as Walt Disney World, SeaWorld and Universal nearby.

In fact, more than 52 million tourists visit the region each year, making it one of the top tourist destinations in the world. The city also has the third largest convention center in the U.S. with 2 million square feet of convention space.

That’s not to say that Orlando is all about conventions and theme parks. The city offers visitors a wealth of cultural events and venues, including Cirque du Soleil, the Orlando Science Center, Orlando Museum of Art, Orlando Ballet, Orlando Philharmonic, Orlando Magic professional basketball team and world-class water parks and dinner theaters.

Farther out, there’s the Kennedy Space Center, home to the American space program and the Daytona NASCAR race complex. And, of course, there are miles of beaches to explore along the Atlantic seaboard, from Daytona to Miami.

If you or your family is here for an extended stay, you’ll find there’s plenty to see and do in the greater Central Florida area.
