Parish Nursing

A Parish Nurse is a registered nurse who services the wholistic health needs of a congregation and in so doing reclaims the healing ministry of the faith community. In 1998, the ANA recognized Parish Nursing as a specialty and has published "Scope of Practice" and "Standards of Practice" for Parish Nursing. In addition, a standardized curriculum was developed and recommended by the International Parish Nurse Resource Center.

Florida Hospital is offering the parish nurse standardized curriculum to nurses who wish to expand their knowledge and scope of practice as parish nurses. The Institute is a 8-day intensive educational and personal growth retreat, designed to prepare registered nurses to deliver wholistic, primary health care in congregations. It is developed within an interfaith model, recognizing and incorporating a diversity of belief systems. Participants earn 54 contact hours, develop the knowledge base necessary for practice, learn how to deal with common problems related to the practice, reflect on personal spiritual development, develop a support system and have the experience of a lifetime.

A division of the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences, echelon is a portal of online healthcare continuing education and training.

The echelon educational environment features:

• A vita generator to help you keep your career info up-to-date.

College of Health Sciences

Owned and operated by Florida Hospital, the Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences specializes in allied health and nursing education. It is a four-year institution, offering Certificate programs and Associate and Baccalaureate degrees in a variety of health-related fields with a focus on the beliefs, values and principles of the Judeo-Christian tradition.

 Florida Hospital (FH) receives frequent requests from students and professionals seeking opportunities to observe within our hospital.  In support of our commitment to career development, education and training of healthcare professionals, FH provides individuals with observation experiences in various clinical areas, residency programs and business professional departments. If you would like to be considered for an educational or observational experience in the future, please complete the FH Application to Observe and/or contact the Florida Hospital Human Resources Campus near you.  The FH Application to Observe must be submitted to Human Resources Compliance Department for review.
