Haiti Relief
Immunization Information
If it is requested, we will send physicians and nurses to Haiti. If this call comes, you may need to leave at a moment’s notice. There are number of immunizations that are recommended to relief workers traveling to Haiti. Based on recent updates from the Centra Care Travel Medicine department:
NO vaccines are mandatory for going to Haiti.
However, Recommendations for Relief workers include:
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Influenza
Tetanus
Typhoid
For Travellers Diarrhea – carry with you and take when you get symptoms:
Lomotil
Cipro (antibiotic to be taken as needed)
For Malaria Prophylax
Chloroquine - start 1 week before you go …. Continue for 4 weeks after the trip
Yellow Fever vaccine is not required at this time and there are no reported outbreaks of this in Haiti.
